Haul roads are dusty by nature, as they are usually made from substandard materials, suffer continual spillage and are required to withstand massive loads and varying vehicular traffic.

For dust control, haul roads are often over watered. Water does not effectively penetrate the surface, resulting in slurry, runoff and slipperiness. This along with continual grading, it takes a toll on the integrity of the road surface. Poor road condition, together with over watering creates problems of

RST’s HRMS is a proven system which combines unique dust suppression products with strategies, equipment modifications, training programs and monitoring methods designed to improve haul road effectiveness.

The product used is the RT9 Water Extender, which is a blend of wetting agents that condition the water to allow better water penetration rates and polymers that bind fine particles together to ensure adequate dust control.

This alleviate the problem of over watering and results in less dust and quicker dispersal of dust as fine particles bind together and fall faster.  After the recommended treatment program, the improved road condition can be maintained with a lighter watering.
