Introduction / background
Dust from a dry tailings dam that was under rehabilitation and expansion, was being blown off site and directly into the houses of the surrounding suburbs, downwind from the tailings dam by seasonal strong winds.
Our recommended solution was
TGC.
Total Ground Control application
TGC diluted to a 3% solution was mixed into one dedicated Water Cart and sprayed in accordance with RSTs’ onsite direction.
Sprays on this water cart were modified to produce the correct water distribution spray pattern.
Results
- Reduction in airborne dust Levels of 100% eliminated the need to constantly re-water the entire area to prevent dust
- Fully satisfy EPA with regard to dust mitigation to the surrounding neighborhoods
- Long term crusting/dust suppression for the extent of the dry season
