BENEFITS

  • Prevents sand slippage
  • Greatly reduces wind and rain erosion of sand bunker faces
  • Reduces drying out
  • Helps prevent ‘ball plug’
  • Easy to apply

DESCRIPTION

Bunker Binder is a unique blend of naturally occurring organic polymers and inert minerals which when mixed with soil or sand and moistened with water, forms a gelatinous or ‘rubbery’ type membrane that bonds soil particles together.

Bunker Binder is easily applied. Simply mix the powder into dry sand, irrigate well and shape onto the desired face. A light compaction and further watering will then firm up the surface. The sand face will then be held firm even in heavy downpours or in windy conditions. The use of Bunker Binder means the sand remains workable with conventional bunker tools and the membrane re-establishes with the next rain or watering. Bunker Binder will also help stop golf balls lodging in the bunker-face (plug lies) as they tend to ‘bounce’ off treated surfaces and roll back into the bottom of the bunker.

APPLICATION

As a general rule, the application rate is 5kg of Bunker Binder per 1 cubic metre of bunker sand. This rate applies to non porous, silica type sand of fine to medium texture (USGA spec). Marbleite, shale type or porous bunker sands which tend to absorb moisture and usually consist of larger more uniform particle size will require up to 15kg per cubic metre to be effective. The larger the particle size, the more Bunker Binder per cubic metre will be needed.

There are two methods for application of Bunker Binder into sand bunkers.
  1. Pre-mixed with sand prior to placement into bunker recesses
  2. Spread and worked in as a dry powder into existing sand bunkers

Square metre dosage rates will vary for each application. Please consult RST for further advice.
