Coast Company has Mining Dust Solution

DUST solutions provider Reynolds Soil Technologies’ (RST) has expanded its product capabilities by developing a custom designed mechanical truck wash solution for a gold mine in the Northern Territory.
The Gold Coast company was asked to provide a solution to the mine’s truck cleaning operations following the revelation that gold was still to be found in the vicinity of a tailings dam. Mine management also has plans to utilise the old tailings dam for a paste plant operation, allowing further exploration of the immediate area.
In a first-time partnership, RST teamed up with NSW vehicle wash company Fleet Wash to design a recycling wash system that would safely remove any harmful residue and dirt from the road trains used to transport the tailings from the dam site to the paste plant, therefore protecting the environment.
Using the innovative RT5 veneer dust suppression product and new supply chain equipment, RST has combined spray-wash system technology to create a dual purpose system that washes the trucks and then sprays the trailer’s payloads to prevent dust lift off that may contain harmful residue.
RST are now also better managing data processing requirements with the use of the company’s recently developed Teksmart IT application, using sophisticated reporting to capture data on-site and feeding it back to the website.
Technical and development director David Handel said the company had stepped up its product range and market share in the past 12 months, with its next focus on value-add products using cutting edge mechanical systems.
“We are continually improving our product range and growing our services and the move into mechanical markets has taken a huge lift with our new ‘Teksmart’ division,” said Mr Handel.
“For the wheel wash project, we enlisted the expertise and support from Fleet Wash and the result is a whole new market for us. It’s a more holistic approach to total solutions management on mine sites.
“RST is now showing we can take on projects outside the sphere with proven results and the biggest value to clients is the on-the-ground support, with staff, equipment, vehicles as well as continual testing, improvement and monitoring.
“We’re expanding mechanical operations and looking at ways to create solutions and teaming up with other companies with necessary expertise to produce better results for our clients.”
Having built a strong reputation specialising in dust suppression and erosion control solutions for the mining industry, RST’s vast experience is now also seeing their products being used across large scale construction, road maintenance and engineering projects, as well as solutions for the management of environmentally regulated sediment control.
Director Peter Parkinson said RST’s products have been designed to control dust and sediment in some of the most volatile mining environments in Australia, but the company is now diversifying with a gradual expansion into further specialist areas.
“What we’re witnessing is the inevitable growth of the company’s product and innovations to tap into these specific mechanical operation markets,” said Mr Parkinson.
“The control of dust and sediment is a huge industry and one that spans many sectors. Our products were designed for specific use in the mining industry, in coal transport and on haul roads. But realistically, the control of dust and sediment is applicable to many different industries.
“The diverse nature of the products meant they are now being used across all sorts of applications, which is a testament to the high quality and versatility of RST’s innovations.
“We can also tailor specific the treatment or products to each project. With RST, each job is as individual as the solution.”
RST has more than 20 years experience in total dust management and soil erosion management.
The Burleigh Heads-based company designs, constructs and maintains all systems. With qualified site technicians managing each program, the company implements continual improvement programs to ensure that all products and systems are supplying clients with optimum results.
